Google Announces Android Wear Lollipop Update With Custom Watch Faces

Google has announced that it will begin rolling out the Android 5.0 OTA update for Android Wear devices next week, which will bring the much-anticipated third-party watch faces support. The company has revealed that watch faces will be available via Google Play.
“We’ve got dozens of examples to get you started—from the unpredictable Minions in Despicable Me to the X-Ray artistry of Hugh Turvey. And because the new Watch Face API is available to all developers, you can expect even more choices in the weeks and months ahead,” David Singleton, Director of Engineering for Android Wear, wrote in a blog post.
What's New :

Easier Navigation:
  • Quickly bring a card back if you’ve accidentally dismissed it
  • When you tap on the watch face, recently used actions now appear at the top of the list

New Modes:
  • Quickly access various settings by swiping down from the top of the screen
  • Theater Mode lets you keep the screen off and mute vibrations when you're in a dark room
  • Sunlight Mode temporarily boosts the screen to maximum brightness

App Improvements:
  • Easily block notifications from any app, directly from your watch
  • View your apps’ usage of battery and storage (in the Android Wear app)

Apart from the watch faces, the update will also include several other improvements like improved access to settings, easy navigation and more.
Google is also releasing an updated version of Android Wear companion app to make browsing, downloading, and switching watch faces easy.
