Google introduce Android Wear at Google I/O [LG, Samsung lands in Play Store, Motorola soon]


Google introduce Android Wear on Wednesday, Detailed its Android Wear platform further, speaking about notifications, UI, and integration with Android smartphones, including authentication. The biggest news about the wearable platform however, was the announcement that Samsung is making an Android Wear smart watch, called the Gear Live.

I/O attendees were given a choice between a LG G Watch and Samsung Gear Live as souvenirs, and also to help developers make apps for the Android Wear platform. Pichai added the circular form factor was important for developers to get used to, so all I/O attendees have also been promised Moto 360 smart watches as soon as they become available.

“Android Wear organizes your information, suggests what you’re going to need, and shows it to you before you even ask, such as weather forecasts in the morning and flight time and gate information before leaving for the airport,” stated Google.

Samsung Gear Live
Samsung announced its first Android Wear smartwatch Gear Live. The device was showcased at the Google I/O 2014 keynote speech and is now on pre-order in the United States, United Kingdom and six other countries via Google Play.
Samsung Gear Live comes with 1.63-inch Super AMOLED 320x320p display, 1.2GHz processor, Heart-rate monitor, 512MB of RAM and 4GB of internal storage. The watch also packs Bluetooth 4.0 LE, 300 mAh battery, changeable straps and is water/ dust resistant.
Being an Android Wear smartwatch, Gear Live will come with support for Google services like Google Now, Google Voice, Google Maps & Navigation, Gmail, and Hangouts.
Samsung Gear Live has been priced at $199 (INR 15,900 in India & £169 in UK). It will start shipping July 8 in US and UK, It will be available in Black and Wine Red colour options. Samsung has also stated that it will soon be released via retail stores as well.
LG G Watch
LG’s first Android Wear watch is can be ordered from Google Play in a dozen countries. Powered by Android Wear, G Watch will start shipping in between July 3 and July 8 in US, UK, Canada, Australia, France, Germany, India, Ireland, Italy, Japan, South Korea, and Spain.
It features a 1.66-inch 280x280p display, 400 mAh battery, Bluetooth 4.0 LE, 512MB of RAM, 4GB of internal storage and 1.2GHz processor. In addition, LG G Watch is water and dust resistant and comes with changeable straps.
It has been priced at $229 in the US, £159 in UK and INR 14,999 in India. It will be available in Black and White color options.
Android Wear brings features like Google Now, voice actions, and support for third-party apps.
