Galaxy S5 LTE-A is official: Snapdragon 805, 2560×1440 display, 225Mbps LTE


Samsung introduced the new Samsung Galaxy S5 LTE-A, which supports wider-bandwidth LTE-Advanced with upto 225Mbps download speed. Set to go on sale via Korean telecom operators SK Telecom, KT and LG U+, the phone will retail for US$919.
The first smartphone to support wider-bandwidth LTE-A, it is also the first Samsung smartphone to pack Quad-HD Super AMOLED display (2560x1440p) and 2.5GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 quad-core processor with Adreno 420 GPU.

Specifications of the phone include 5.1-inch screen, 3GB of RAM, Android 4.4, 2800 mAH battery, and the usual connectivity options. Galaxy S5 LTE-A also packs a heart rate sensor, water/ dust resistance, and fingerprint scanner.
On the imaging front, Samsung has included 16MP rear camera and 2MP front shooter on the phone.
The smartphone will be released in Charcoal Black, Shimmering White, Electric Blue, Cooper Gold, Sweet Pink and Glam Red colour options, which Red being exclusive to SK Telecom.

There is no word on on whether Samsung will release a non LTE-A variant of the phone for release in other markets. As per the the information available so far, it seems to be a Korea-only device for the near-future.
