Micromax launches Unite 2 smartphone to take on Moto E

Micromax has announced the launch of a new Android smartphone in the Indian market. Dubbed as Micromax Unite 2, the phone is targeted at Moto E, which is the current favourite of budget Android buyers in the country. Micromax has priced Unite 2 A106 at INR 6,999, same as Moto E.
According to a press release, Unite 2 features a 4.7-inch WVGA display, dual-SIM support, 3G, 2000 mAh battery and 1GB of RAM. The phone is powered by 1.3GHz quad-core MediaTek processor and includes imaging options like 5MP rear camera with LED flash and 2MP front camera.

Among other specifications, the phone runs on Android 4.4 KitKat and comes with support for 20 Indian regional languages like Hindi, Gujarati, Punjabi, Malayalam, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Odia, Bengali, Assamese, Marathi, Nepali, Bodo, Dogri, Konkani, Kashmiri, Maithili, Manipuri, Sanskrit and Sindhi.
“India is a diverse country and language at times can act as a barrier for people to seamlessly communicate on their phones. Therefore, we firmly believe that support for local languages on phones will perhaps be the next big driver for day to day phone transactions, internet usage and online content consumption in India given that most of the population does not use English as their primary language. With the launch of the Micromax Unite 2, our aim is to enable local customization to serve the unique needs of Indian consumers across multiple markets,” said Shubhodip Pal, CMO of Micromax.
Micromax Unite 2 is going on sale starting today and will be available in Grey, White, Red and Green colour options.
